Monthly Meetings
The Society meets at 7:30pm on the second Thursday of each month at the Safe Schools Institute located at 1790 NW Spanish River Blvd, Boca Raton, FL 33433.
All orchid lovers are welcome to attend our meetings, check out what is happening and meet our members. Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary – just an appreciation of the fantastic variety of the world of orchids and a desire to learn more!

Program: Terrestrial Orchids of South Florida
Presenter: Luis Ortiz
Luis Manuel Ortiz Jordan holds a master’s degree in environmental management, boasts over 25 years of experience in horticulture, serves as the Orchid Curator for McKee Botanical Gardens, and is the President of the Orchid Society of Palm Beaches.
Before dedicating himself to orchids, Ortiz-Jordan worked in cancer research – a career pivot that highlights his scientific approach to botany. He has spent considerable time cultivating his passion for orchids in Puerto Rico, where he discovered a new species and refined his skills growing a diverse range of plants.
His talk tonight will focus on the Terrestrial Orchids of South Florida—orchids that grow in the ground, where we live. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn about orchids that will beautify your garden!

Our Orchid Society
The Boca Raton Orchid Society began in 1989 with just 27 members. Since then, the Society has grown tremendously and now has a membership of more than 140 members. Our subtropical climate is perfect for growing an astounding variety of warm to intermediate temperature orchids in Palm Beach County. Each year our members enjoy several fun-filled orchid events, including an Awards meeting in December and the highlight event, our Annual Valentines Show & Sale scheduled for February 13 - 14, 2027.
